When we hear the word “Work” it is not usually considered a pleasant thing, but was it always meant to be so right from the beginning?
WORK is usually seen as something that we HAVE to do, and the enjoyment comes on a Friday evening – brands like “TGI-Friday”(Thank God its Friday), songs like “Manic Monday” and many more taught the world thats the way it was and will be but was it always meant to be so?
Can work be something you enjoy? Why should one do things he or she hates doing most part of his week and life? If he starts enjoying his work he wont have to wait till the weekend to “enjoy” but he would looking forward to his work always that he enjoys doing. Is it possible? We have to go back to where it all started in the Garden of Eden beginning with the first man and the work he was assigned to do and how it ended up as a pain.
Starting from the Garden of Eden where the first human beings were created and placed by God they were to take care of the garden and rule over all God’s creation but when they sinned disobeying God, He cursed the ground and work became a pain!
Then to Adam God said,
“Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat from it’;
Cursed is the ground because of you;
With hard labor you shall eat from it
All the days of your life.
Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you;
Yet you shall eat the plants of the field;
By the sweat of your face
You shall eat bread,
Until you return to the ground,
Because from it you were taken;
For you are dust,
And to dust you shall return.” Gen 3:17-19
The devil deceived the first human beings and work became a pain, but just before God spoke this to Adam, God spoke the solution to the problem caused by the devil.
Then the Lord God said to the serpent,
“Because you have done this,
Cursed are you more than all the livestock,
And more than any animal of the field;
On your belly you shall go,
And dust you shall eat
All the days of your life;
And I will make enemies
Of you and the woman,
And of your offspring and her Descendant;
He shall bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise Him on the heel.”
This was the first prophesy of Jesus Christ Who would come and restore all things. Jesus did come and took ALL our curses and has restored all that man had lost by his disobedience. Jesus came into this world to give us life in abundance (John 10:10) redeemed and restored ALL that man had lost and He removed death and gave eternal life to all who would receive Him.
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us – for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree” – in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” Galatians 3:13-14
God has removed the curse and has given us the blessings of Abraham and He has promised to bless the work of our hands and whatever you do would prosper. God has also given us abilities and talents which we enjoy doing and we can work and enjoy what we do and what we do will no more be through the sweat of our brow but by doing what we enjoy doing and God blessing the work of our hands we can live a blessed enjoyable meaningful life on this earth.
SO SEEK GOD AND DO WHAT HE WANTS YOU TO DO ON EARTH.
