Right from the beginning, God’s desire was to be with man – He used to come down to be with the first man and woman He had created on earth, but man chose to be selfish and then had to hide from Him out of fear and went farther and farther away from God because of his own selfish choices and made the distance further and further from a loving God who wanted to draw near to him.
Now they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. Gen 3:8
Man went farther and farther away from God because of his own selfishness and chose to live the way he wanted, not honoring or recognizing or acknowledging God as the Creator and so God later gave them over to do whatever he wanted.
PLEASE READ ROMANS 1:18-25
But God never stopped revealing Himself to man, though man’s sin and his own choice separated him from God. God is revealed in all His creation and man can see His greatness and glory in the creation which is all around us – even though not in its perfection – again because of man’s lack of good stewardship, as it was entrusted to him by God.
But still, if any man looks at the creation all around us and the created beings it is evident there is a Creator behind the creation, but then man chose to worship the creation instead of the Creator, and created idols made to look like the creation made with his own hands.
God’s desire to be with man and to fellowship with Him still remained, and He still did not leave him but came to him in form of a Man -JESUS – He came and dwelt among man, and still many did not recognize Him, except a few.
He came to His own, and His own people did not accept Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of a man, but of God. John 1:11,12
To those who received Jesus, God gave them the right to be called children of God, their sins were forgiven and were cleansed of their sins and received the promised Holy Spirit – thus God restored the fellowship which man needs and also God’s desire to be with man continued.
It was not that we loved Him but He first loved us.
Even the creation is subject to frustration because of man’s sin and even the creation groans, just as man also groans in his earthly imperfect body that undergoes corruption.
Jesus has promised to come back to take us with Him to be with Him forever to dwell in the place which He has prepared for us. As we live in this world we long for that Day for Him to appear and transform this present earthly corruptible body to be clothed with heavenly bodies which cannot be corrupted.
This earth will be destroyed by fire and God will create a new heaven and a new earth, and the dwelling of God will be with man always and restored forever in this new heaven and the new earth.
